Annual NSA Training Prevents Fraud, Protects Signers

A notary that is trained and approved to complete loan signings is called a Notary Signing Agent or NSA. In order to maintain the National Notary Association NSA Certification, a notary public must complete an annual online training module and pass a signing agent test. The training covers important legal updates, a notary basics refresher and a section devoted to the specific skills needed to properly complete a loan closing as a notary public. The notary must also complete an annual background screening to accompany the online training. The background screening verifies that the notary is free of felony convictions or other issues that could disqualify them from handling client’s sensitive documents and information. The training is designed to ensure the notary stays current and competent.

Last week, I completed the annual training and passed the background check. The results were then sent to every signing service that I contract with so they can keep current records of my qualifications.
